Rent A Home In Paradise
Perfect for the family getaway!
This Beautiful 3 bedroom Spanish style bungalow is nestled in a quiet, little subdivision that backs onto a small river, just 3 minutes outside of Paquera. White faced monkeys as well as howler monkeys frequent the trees near the river and over 150 different types of birds visit the property regularly. The restaurants, hotels and banks are just minutes away from this lovely, rural setting where horses and oxcarts are still used regularly.
Housekeeping, cooking and laundry services are available at very reasonable rates. Local beaches Playa Pajaros and Playa Organos are just 10 minutes away and Curu Wildlife Reserve is about 5 kilometers west. An absolute must is the night kayak plankton bioluminescence tour! It is through Bahia Rica Tours. Los Delfines Golf & Country Club is close to the Tambor Barceló Hotel, about 20 minutes away. No car, no problem! Lots of ‘taxistas’ in town. Their rates are really quite reasonable. Our favorite beach is Playa Organos, just 10 minutes from the house. There are often only a few local people in the beach. Not a lot of tourists know about it. Its a bit of a hidden gem. From Playa Organos, Isla Tortuga can be seen clearly just out a few kilometres out.
This is where the best snorkeling and diving is found. To get to Isla Tortuga, its best to go to Curu Biological Reserve and take the boat across. They have all of the snorkel and diving gear one might need. Bahia Rica Tours, who also have great fishing packages and sight seeing tours, have wonderful Isla Tortuga day trips too. For something a bit livelier, the busier, tourist hotspots of Montezuma, Mal Pais and Santa Teresa are just a short 40 minute drive up the coast.
What our guests say about us....
“Paquera was a great little town. Michael was a great host, even though we didn’t get a chance to meet him. Nena was so friendly and ready to answer any questions. The home was clean and welcoming. Thank you Michael for your personal recommendations. I would definitely stay again!

“A short distance away from where the Nicoya Peninsula meets land and jungle is the quiet town of Paquera where there are few tourists, two grocery stores, a wonderful panaderia and the mixing of the old with the new. Not far from the center of town is a small, welcoming neighborhood where we stayed in this casita for five days while we explored the pristine beaches, visited Curu wildlife preserve, went scuba diving, snorkling and kayaking. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would recommend to all that want to experience the culture, wildlife and natural beauty of Costa Rica to stay here and visit the surrounding area. Don’t miss hiking in Curu and seeing wildlife in their natural habitat, night kayaking under the moon and splashing bioluminescence with BahiaRica, swimming in warm, blue water and viewing the underwater plant and animal life. Staying in this casita allows you the opportunity to do all of this. We will stay here again in December and probably many times after as this is something you don’t tire of but just want more and more.”

“We visited Mike and Paquera recently and really loved it! it is a quiet place surrounded by nature, you can hear the monkeys and birds near the house, less than 5 minutes are all services, banks, restaurants, supermarkets and other, nearby beaches are really beautiful, the house is comfortable and has everything you need, we are also happy with the attention from the owner, in a nutshell is an excellent choice for a very affordable price.”
Marco Garcia, San Jose, Costa RIca
“We went for the Birds and it was HEAVEN. Even if you aren’t a big Birder, you can’t help but be in awe of them all around you in the Paquera area. The Monkeys are great too. Very friendly locals, they couldn’t have been more helpful. It was a very relaxing stay. The house is modern, spotlessly clean and well located to the stores and restaurants. I highly recommend this house and vacation spot to anyone.”

“We spent 10 days in the lovely home of Michael. This house is spacious and functional and is located near a quiet village Paquera (2 minutes by car). This area of Costa Rica is very pretty, very green, it is located forty kilometers from Montezuma…

“I had a great time in Paquera and found it to be one of my favorite places in CR.”
Jude Murphy, Juneau, Alaska, USA
“We stayed at the house near Paquera for a week in February. It was beautiful. The weather was around 30C degrees and wonderfully sunny. The small town of Paquera is nestled on the Nicoya Peninsula and it is a quaint little town off the beaten path. It is a short drive from beaches, nature reserves, golfing and sport fishing.(never had an Iguana attack my golf ball before). The house is brand new and accommodated us, a family of four, very comfortably. We enjoyed having enough room to relax after a long day of exploring. We were enthralled by the nature walks that we took down the road outside the house, there being a boisterous group of howler monkeys in the neighborhood. It was the trip of a lifetime and we would gladly return!”

“One of my favorite places to stay during my entire Costa Rica trip! Michael was delightful and extremely responsive when it came to questions about location and logistics. Though he did not meet my friends and I when we stayed at his home, his housekeeper Nena was exceptional. She met my friends and me at a bank in town, then showed us to the house. The next morning she brought us fruit from a tree in her own yard before bidding us adieu. Clean, comfortable, spacious and located in a relatively quiet neighborhood. Absolutely loved the thoughtful “guide” left inside the house with restaurant recommendations, contact information and a heads up about a local bread truck that stops by every morning. Would highly recommend this location!”
